Summary
Under the direction of the leadership team in the Quality Department monitor quality technical and process activities in the Ingot Melt Shop and ancillary processes; review operating and test data; dispose processing non-conformances; evaluate ingot chemistry; ensure compliance with customer purchase orders requirements; prescribe continuous improvement programs.
Essential Functions
- Review and comment on customer and industry specifications based on plant capabilities.
- Review heat records for accuracy/compliance including melt chart interpretation.
- Review chemistry results and recommend formulation improvements/adjustments
- Conduct internal audits as assigned including hazard review assessments
- Provide technical assistance for the development or modification of formulation standards melt profiles standard process outlines grade standards variances etc.
- Create/revise standard operating procedures raw material specifications as necessary.
Review statistical data and make recommendations for improvements.
- Prepare statistical reports for customer submittals
- Other duties as assigned.
Competencies
Quality assurance/engineering principles metallurgical or material science engineering SPC general plant safety working knowledge of Microsoft Office (e.g. Word Excel Outlook).
Education and Experience
Enrolled in a four-year degree program in either of the following engineering areas: Metallurgical/Materials Science Engineering or Quality.
