Job Summary

Summary

Under the direction of the leadership team in the Quality Department monitor quality technical and process activities in the Ingot Melt Shop and ancillary processes; review operating and test data; dispose processing non-conformances; evaluate ingot chemistry; ensure compliance with customer purchase orders requirements; prescribe continuous improvement programs.

Essential Functions

Review and comment on customer and industry specifications based on plant capabilities.
Review heat records for accuracy/compliance including melt chart interpretation.
Review chemistry results and recommend formulation improvements/adjustments
Conduct internal audits as assigned including hazard review assessments
Provide technical assistance for the development or modification of formulation standards melt profiles standard process outlines grade standards variances etc.
Create/revise standard operating procedures raw material specifications as necessary.

Review statistical data and make recommendations for improvements.

Prepare statistical reports for customer submittals
Other duties as assigned.

Competencies

Quality assurance/engineering principles metallurgical or material science engineering SPC general plant safety working knowledge of Microsoft Office (e.g. Word Excel Outlook).

Education and Experience

Enrolled in a four-year degree program in either of the following engineering areas: Metallurgical/Materials Science Engineering or Quality.
