Who We Are:
STC is a joint venture between Aecon and FCC Canada Ltd. that was selected by Metrolinx to deliver the Scarborough Subway Extension Stations Rails and Systems (SSE-SRS) package. The Scarborough Subway Extension will bring the TTCs Line 2 subway service nearly eight kilometers farther into Scarborough. It will extend from Kennedy Station to Sheppard Avenue and McCowan Road providing quick and seamless transit for those heading into and out of the downtown core and those travelling within Scarborough. The extension will replace Line 3 (the Scarborough RT) helping to reduce travel times and improve access to jobs schools and other key destinations throughout the city.
As part of this project we are currently looking for aEstimatorto join our team.
What You Will Do:
- Perform detailed quantity take-offs from IFC drawings shop drawings models and field measurements.
- Verify and validate existing quantity take-offs prepared by others.
- Break down quantities based on the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) to align with project controls and reporting requirements.
- Conduct price benchmarking using market data historical rates and executed contract rates.
- Prepare and assist in the submission of variation proposals including supporting calculations and documentation.
- Identify scope gaps overlaps or potential claims by reviewing drawings specifications and site progress.
- Coordinate with procurement and subcontract administration teams to align estimated quantities and rates with contract provisions.
- Support the cost control team in monitoring budget versus actual cost performance.
- Work closely with the design and construction teams to identify value engineering and optimization opportunities.
- Collaborate with procurement and subcontractor trades to update pricing and refine estimates.
Experience You Will Bring:
- 2-5 years of experience completing estimates for multidisciplinary construction projects.
- University degree College diploma in Engineering Quantity Surveying or related field or equivalent work experience.
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings and documents.
- Good knowledge of job cost fundamentals for typical items and scopes where design and/or schematics have been provided.
- Demonstrated computer software proficiency- MS Excel/Word.
- Experience with estimating software is considered an asset.
- Proven organizational skills.
- Ability to manage time and formulate plans to meet multiple deadlines within a high-pressure work environment.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- Valid drivers license and ability to travel as required.
- Adaptable to flexible work schedule when required to meet deadlines.
