Description
The Facility Supervisor oversees the facility answers phones greets visitors and provides assistance and information; processes fees and payments associated with class registrations ticket sales and admissions; performs routine office and administrative tasks in support of department projects and programs; sets up and manages rentals; supports gallery exhibits and public art projects; and contributes to a positive and enjoyable experience for all who contact or visit the facilities.

Youll be joining an innovative and collaborative team committed to providing exceptional customer service as well as diverse cultural artistic and recreational opportunities and interests to promote the health and well-being of residents and visitors. Background and experience in the arts is highly desirable.
Work schedule may be a combination of daytime and evening shifts Monday through Sunday. Schedule will vary depending on operational needs. Starting pay rate is $17.65 to $20.00 per hour and will be offered at a level consistent with the experience and qualifications of the candidate. Direct deposit of paychecks is a condition of employment for all City of Gaithersburg employees.
Job Functions
What you will do with us:- Oversee the facility and manage/monitor contracted events/rentals.
- Greet and assist visitors students artists and performance and rental patrons in person and by phone; provide appropriate services information or assistance.
- Receive and process fees and payments related to ticket sales admissions registrations artist applications and art sales.
- Support gallery exhibits and public art projects.
- Coordinate equipment and audio-visual requirements for events.
- Help set-up and clean-up rooms used for activities/events and assist with general maintenance duties.
- Ensure compliance with facility rules and rental agreement terms.
- Conduct tours of the facility and provide an overview of services offered.
- Perform routine office/administrative and other tasks in support of facility projects and programs.
- Provide excellent service pursue continuous improvement and exceed expectations.
Qualifications
What you will need to be considered:
- At least 18 years of age and a high school graduate or equivalent (GED).
- Background and experience in the arts highly desirable.
- Demonstrated professional work habits including punctuality reliability dependability and adaptability.
- Excellent customer service organizational time management and communication (verbal and written) skills.
- Ability to fluently speak read and write in English; multilingual skills a plus.
- Previous customer service experience (preferred).
- General knowledge of office practices and procedures intermediate computer skills (Microsoft 365) and the ability to operate standard office equipment (multi-line telephone copier etc.).
- Demonstrated ability to make quick and sound decisions problem solve and prioritize.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and as part of the team.
- Physical ability to set-up/clean-up rooms for activities rentals and meetings (able to lift/carry materials weighing up to 40 pounds).
- CPR/AED and First Aid certification (may be obtained through the City upon hire).
- Or any acceptable equivalent combination of education experience and training that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities to satisfactorily perform job duties and functions.
