Under the direction of the Fire Chief the Deputy Fire Chief of Logistics is responsible for supervising managing and directing the administration and operation of the Saco Fire Departments logistics functions. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that personnel have the resources equipment and support required to perform their duties effectively. Responsibilities include overseeing apparatus equipment facilities supply chain management and ensuring readiness to support all emergency operations. This full-time position offers a competitive salary range of$105000-$120000 based on qualifications and experience along with an excellent benefits package. You can learn more about our great benefits at DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Assist the Fire Chief in planning organizing and directing fire department operations with focus on logistics and support.
- Responds as needed to fire and EMS calls in compliance with established SOGs and directives; functions as part of the Incident Command (IC) structure.
- Serves as the agencys representative and liaison by coordinating with other state county and/or local and regional emergency response agencies in emergencies and such incidents as they arise.
- Acts as an advocate and proponent of the Saco Fire Department; and as part of the administrative team will assist with strategic planning and operational budgeting; mentoring officers and other line staff as needed.
- Completes root cause investigations for incidents accidents or near misses.
- Supervise and provide guidance to fire captains lieutenants and other personnel fostering a positive work environment and promoting teamwork.
- Manage procurement maintenance and readiness of fire apparatus equipment and facilities.
- Oversee inventory control including personal protective equipment (PPE) and operational gear.
- Develop and maintain relationships with vendors contractors and regional partners to ensure reliable supply chains.
- Coordinate fleet maintenance schedules and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
- Maintain records and reports related to logistics procurement and asset management systems.
- Participate in the on-call administrative rotation as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Fire Chief.
NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES: This position demands a dynamic and experienced leader who can integrate and manage multiple emergency response disciplines to safeguard the community effectively. Education and Experience - A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in the fire service and pre-hospital emergency medical services including supervisory and management roles or equivalent combination of experience and training required.
- Associates degree in Fire Science Emergency Management Public Administration or related field; bachelors preferred.
- Fire Officer I & II Certification (Pro Board or equivalent).
- Strong background in logistics supply chain management or emergency support functions.
- Experience in apparatus equipment and facility management.
- Must hold and maintain a valid Maine EMS License; paramedic preferred.
- FEMA NIMSand 700 certifications.
- Vocational education to include but not limited to ICS/Fireground Command Hazardous Materials Marine Fire/Rescue Operations Wildland Fire and Special Rescue Operations
- Valid Maine Drivers License required.
