Good Samaritans Emergency Servicesprovides the highest level of trauma surgical and critical care. Our team of nationally and internationally respected experts stands ready to take care of patients with traumatic injuries 24 hours a day 7 days a Health Good Samaritan is designated as an Advanced Level II Trauma Center by the Nebraska Statewide Trauma System which demonstrates the ability to meet stringent criteria reflecting commitment excellence and assurance of high quality care for all trauma patients.
Established by the Sisters of the St. Francis in 1924 CHI Health-Good Samaritan is a 268-bed regional referral center in Kearney Nebraska. At CHI Health-Good Samaritan youll find an advanced level trauma center that also offers AirCare emergency helicopter transport and an ambulance program providing long distance and local 911 service. Among our many other services are cardiac care including open-heart surgery a level II neonatal intensive care unit a nationally accredited cancer center comprehensive neurosurgery advanced orthopedic program and inpatient and outpatient mental health services at our free-standing Richard Young Behavioral Health facility.
Job Summary and Responsibilities
As an ER Nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital now part of CommonSpirit Health formed between Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) and Dignity Health youll partner with an experienced clinical team to deliver stabilizing care to our patients by performing IV starts foley catheter insertions or aiding providers with chest tube insertions. To thrive as an ER nurse you should exhibit teamwork professionalism critical thinking skills and a willingness to take on additional projects such as patient experience initiatives.
- Use emergency triage protocol to intake discharge or admit patients.
- Deliver stabilizing care to emergency patients of all ages as part of the larger ER team adapting care to changes in patients condition as needed.
- Use knowledge of cultural differences to provide patient care that is sensitive to and consistent with cultural values beliefs and customs. Document the nursing care plan and changes in the patients condition.
- Engage in other activities that will benefit patient outcomes such as patient experience initiatives mentoring etc.

Job Requirements
- Graduate of an RN nursing program.
- Active RN licensure in the state of Nebraska or nurse licensure compact.
- BLS(Basic Life Support) from American Heart Association.
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) required within 3 months of hire
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification required within 5 months of hire.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification required within 5 months of hire.
- NRP (Neonatal resuscitation program) required within 6 months of hire.
- TNCC (Trauma Nurse Core Course) required within 12 months of hire.
- ENPC (Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course) required within 18 months of hire.
