6 months contract with a Local Authority
Job Summary:
An experienced Legal Professional is required to join a Local Authority Legal Services team on a temporary basis to provide specialist legal advice and representation
The role will focus on areas relating to safeguarding family support and wider public sector governance.
This is a full-time assignment based on-site ideal for an individual confident in delivering high-quality legal work within a fast-paced public sector environment.
Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
Provide high-quality legal advice representation and support to client departments particularly in the area of safeguarding and family law.
Represent the authority in court proceedings and tribunals including case preparation and advocacy as required.
Manage a caseload of complex and sensitive legal matters independently ensuring deadlines are met and risks are mitigated.
Draft and review legal documents including court applications contracts and formal correspondence.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation case law and best practice.
Work collaboratively with other legal professionals and stakeholders within the council and externally.
Ensure compliance with professional standards council policies and procedures.
Skills/Experience:
Minimum 2 years experience in public sector legal work ideally in safeguarding family law or child protection.
Demonstrable experience of handling complex legal caseloads with minimal supervision.
Strong knowledge of relevant legislation such as the Children Act 1989/2004 Care Act 2014 and related case law.
Excellent communication drafting and negotiation skills.
Proven ability to manage competing priorities and work under pressure.
Familiarity with court processes advocacy and case management systems in the public sector.

Qualified Solicitor Barrister or Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx).
Working Hours: 36 hours per week (full-time).
