We are looking for an Audience Development Specialist to join our team at the Echo. Youll lead newsroom training and support on audience engagement and digital growth; spot trends and emerging topics early; and advise across the newsroom on formats and channels to maximise reach.
Partnering with editorial youll be optimising headlines visuals and publishing strategies through datadriven recommendations and setting tracking and reporting on KPIs for growth and retention.
This role is home & hub linked to our Liverpool hub so you must be located in or around Liverpool.

What will the role involve
You will be analysing audience behaviour and trends across all content platforms and providing daily weekly and longterm insights that guide editors on story selection timing and distribution.
As well as commissioning Content Insights reports and dashboards sensecheck visualisations and providing feedback to refine new and existing data you will also develop strategies to acquire new audiences and deepen engagement with existing ones act as the goto expert translating complex centralteam data into clear actions and provide guidance to Audience Editors and Engagement Producers alongside the Audience Strategy & Engagement team.
Who are we looking for
You are passionate and inquisitive with proven experience in developing and implementing strategies that grow engage and retain news/media audiences and the ability to translate complex data sets into clear actionable insights for non-technical colleagues - you can turn numbers into stories that everyone understands!
With an up to date knowledge of digital publishing trends SEO and social media algorithms and newsletter best practices you will be able to use your key influencing and communication skills bring people on board with new ideas and ways of working.
A good understanding of using tools such as Google Analytics and Chartbeat as well as a degree in journalism/communications/data science would be a plus.
