The Sustainability Regulatory & External Engagement team are in charge of driving Airbus engagement with key stakeholders who play an instrumental role in the elaboration of future regulations standards & policies for aerospace & defence and its wider ecosystem relating to sustainability.
The external stakeholders profiles managed by Regulatory & External Engagement department (GR) include:
Aviation Industry Associations
Institutions (in collaboration with Public Affairs)
Standards Developing Organisations
Universities & Research bodies
Non Governmental Organisations
Mission
The mission of a European External Engagement Director (Industrial) is to create favourable external ecosystem conditions to bring Airbus purpose to life - We pioneer Sustainable aerospace for a safe and united world.
The European External Engagement Director creates and maintains for Airbus (Divisions and Affiliates) a network of key relationships with external stakeholders to deal with strategic topics that can impact the development of the company provides advocacy advice at Airbus executive level and generates the most fertile ground for the implementation of Airbus Sustainability strategy.
Activities and Responsibilities:
To deliver on its mission the European External Engagement Director :
Embraces the Sustainability strategic topics for Airbus as elaborated in position papers
Is accountable for the position paper on topics for which the job holder is the referent
Leads advocacy on the Airbus Groups vision with external stakeholders (in conjunction with Public Affairs where appropriate)
Ensures that Airbus speaks with One Voice across external stakeholders
In its role the European External Engagement Director :
Is responsible for holding a sound relationship with his/her stakeholders understanding its organisation and strategy and being able to relay Airbus vision on a variety of topics
Directly engages with owned stakeholders on strategic topics that can impact the development of Airbus
Works in conjunction with the Regulatory Intelligence & Trends team and functions to respond to European Commission consultations
Advocates the Airbus position which entails understanding Stakeholders views convincing of the common interest engaging complex negotiations resolving and leading to their good end discussions on strategic topics
Is the Airbus internal focal point for Sustainability company advocacy
Coordinates a One Voice approach across the company in conjunction with Public Affairs International Marketing and Communications to ensure utmost audience engagement
Brings together the necessary skills internally impactfully deals with transverse teams to align on advocacy material and positions that will allow to both influence and answer incoming requests from our external stakeholders
Validates the Airbus position with the relevant services and the Airbus (Divisions & Affiliates) hierarchy
Account(s) ownership :
The stakeholders identified for this position relate to EU Industrial regulatory aspects and Industry Associations. The holder of this position will be in charge of :
Defining and implementing an advocacy plan on strategic sustainability topics for Airbus in close coordination with the Brussels Public Affairs
Ensuring Airbus strategic sustainability topics are properly conveyed to the EU institutions with Public Affairs (EU Commission Member States and the European Parliament)
Stakeholders to be engaged with relating to Aviation Sustainability include:
European Aerospace and aviation associations
Cross-sectoral associations
EU Institutions in conjunction with Public Affairs
The jobholder is as well:
Topic referent typically for: REACH Circular Economy Ecodesign for Sustainable Products (ESPR) ODS and FGas regulation ESG Reporting etc
Skills and know-how
Proven experience in external stakeholder management and influence key account management
Experience in dealing with Institutions Governmental bodies and associations is a plus
Ability to build and sustain business relationships across all levels
Open mindedness with respect to public issues ability to create consensus and engagement around pioneering topics
Natural spokesperson
Understand the major challenges for Airbus (Divisions & Affiliates) ability to mobilise concepts in several disciplines and foremost in Sustainability Strategic thinking analytical skills and ability to structure synthesize and give meaning
Ability to manage an internal cross-disciplinaries network of experts
English - Fluent negotiation
