Job Description

About the Role

A Permit Officer at the Northern Land Council (NLC)processes applications for permits manages the NLC Permit System and acts as a contact point for people needing access to or information about aboriginal Lands in the Northern Territory. They help ensure visitors understand their obligations communicate with Traditional Owners about who is on their country and assist with enforcing rules and regulations for entry and activities on these lands.

What You Will Bring:

As a Permit Officer within the Permits Agreements and Compliance Team (PACT) youll play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and timely processing of access permit applications. Youll be the central link between applicants permit holders internal staff and Permit Delegates facilitating clear communication and seamless coordination across the permit lifecycle.

Your contribution will be vital in maintaining operational efficiency through the Permit Administration System (PAS) where youll manage online applications with precision and care. Beyond permit processing youll provide high-level administrative support to the Permits Coordinator and the wider PACT team handling resource scheduling managing shared mailboxes and calendars and delivering general clerical assistance that keeps the team running at its best.

In addition you will have:

  • Certificate III in Business Administration (or equivalent experience of 12 years experience in a similar role)
  • Knowledge of issues affecting Aboriginal Australians and ability to engage sensitively with Aboriginal people.
  • Proven high standard of word processing skills data entry and proficiency in the use of softwareapplications and databases including an ability to learn new systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 data entry and records management systems.

  • A base salary of $64542 per annum plus 15% superannuation and salary sacrificing up to $15900 Meal Entertainment and Holiday Accommodation benefits up to $2650 per year.
  • Other benefits under our Enterprise Agreement include:
    • District allowance of up to $4797 per annum for individuals with dependents and $2630 without dependents.
    • 5 weeks annual leave leaving loading 18 days personal leave;
    • Paid Christmas close down.
    • Upon completion of 12 months of service an Annual airfare with a net (in hand) value of $3177.
