Shrewsbury Public SchoolsPosted: October 6 2025 Closed: When FilledEmployment Opportunity: Shrewsbury High SchoolPOSITION: Long-Term Substitute School Counselor Available November 2025 and continuing into early May 2026Shrewsbury Public Schools is currently accepting applications for a Long-Term Substitute School Counselor position for Shrewsbury High School. We are interested in candidates who are invested in the achievement equity and access of all learners in and beyond the classroom. This position is available from November 2025 through early May 2026. Please read more about the School Counseling Department at candidates with diverse racial cultural religious class and/or gender background and experiences are strongly encouraged to Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Provide individual and group counseling support regarding social emotional academic and post-secondary planning to students Manage students academic schedule and plan towards completing graduation requirements and personal academic abilitiesOrganize the orientation of new students with appropriate academic placement and transition needsDiscuss college or career readiness testing with students and parentsAssist students in the college application process including writing letters of recommendation and providing financial aid information where appropriateDeliver the developmental school counseling curriculum in a classroom settingAssist career ready students to explore and research career possibilities Participate as necessary in the team evaluation process for all assigned students receiving special education services and 504 accommodationsConsult and collaborate with students and parents/guardians and relevant community agencies to support students facing challenges that impact their academic tasks as assigned by the High School Principal or Director of GuidanceQualifications include:Provisional Initial or Professional Licensure as a School Counselor or School Guidance Counselor Grades 5-12 from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary and availability to administer standardized testing including PSAT SAT ACTUnderstands the needs and behaviors of high school the values of Shrewsbury Public Process:Interested candidates should submit a letter of interest resume official or unofficial copies of undergraduate/graduate transcripts license # or unofficial copy of license and three current professional letters of reference including one from a direct supervisor or apply via The Shrewsbury Public Schools is an affirmative action employer ensuring that its programs and facilities are accessible to the public.
