The Systems Performance Engineers job is to look at figure out and improve how well complex computing systems and infrastructure work. This job involves benchmarking performance tuning systems and fixing problems to make sure that mission-critical applications and services run as well as possible. The best candidate will have a lot of experience with performance monitoring tools a strong background in systems architecture and a track record of being able to work alone and with others in cross-functional teams.
Important Duties:
Look at the architectures and workloads of systems to find performance problems and bottlenecks.
Make and carry out plans for performance tests benchmarks and stress tests.
Use advanced monitoring tools like Prometheus Grafana New Relic and Datadog to keep an eye on and report on how well the system is working.
Work with teams that make software hardware and networks to improve and fine-tune systems at every level of the stack.
Find the root cause of performance problems or failures and suggest the best way to fix them.
Make and keep technical documentation performance dashboards and reports for people who need them.
Give advice on how to plan for capacity and how to make systems more scalable.
Encourage best practices for performance and help your peers learn how to do performance engineering.
Keep up with new technologies and trends in systems performance engineering.
Requirements:
A bachelors degree in computer science computer engineering or a related field or at least the same amount of work experience.
More than four years of experience in systems performance engineering or a similar job.
Able to analyse and tune the performance of Linux/Unix and/or Windows systems.
Good at programming or scripting (like Python Bash C or Go).
Experience using profiling benchmarking and monitoring tools in real life.
Knowledge of cloud infrastructure virtualisation and containerisation (Docker Kubernetes).
Great at solving problems and paying attention to details.
Great at talking and writing.
Pay by the hour: $65 to $95 depending on how much experience you have.
