Position: Social Care Worker
Location: Letteragh & West Galway
Salary: per annum (subject to upcoming increases in November and further adjustments in 2026)
Role: Permanent part-time (31 hours per week) additional relief hours available

We are delighted to recruit on behalf of our client a highly regarded organisation providing exceptional services to children and adults with intellectual disabilities and autism across Galway City and County. Their mission is to empower individuals to live inclusive self-directed lives through residential care day programmes respite and community-based supports.
With the launch of a new service in Letteragh and additional needs in the west side of the city we are urgently seeking a dedicated Social Care Worker to join their growing team.
Role Overview
As a Social Care Worker you will play a vital role in delivering person-centred care and support to individuals with intellectual disabilities. You will work within a collaborative team to promote independence dignity and inclusion while ensuring the highest standards of care and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide residential and respite care supporting daily living personal care and household routines.
- Act as a key worker developing and implementing individualised care plans.
- Support individuals with complex needs and behaviours using evidence-based approaches.
- Administer and document medications in line with policy.
- Foster meaningful relationships with service users families and multidisciplinary teams.
- Facilitate community-based activities and promote social inclusion.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to service planning and development.
- Provide guidance to care assistants and act as Person in Charge when required.
- Work a flexible rota including weekends sleep-ins and night shifts as needed.
- Drive service vehicles or your own for work-related duties.
Candidate Requirements
Essential:
- Level 7 degree in Social Care or a related discipline.
- CORU registration (or in process).
- Experience supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities or in a similar care setting.
- Full driving licence and access to a vehicle.
- Strong communication teamwork and problem-solving skills.
- A motivated empathetic and person-centred approach.
Desirable:
- Experience in residential or respite services.
- Familiarity with HIQA standards and regulatory compliance.
