Job Summary

Our Client is a leading Charity operating across Ireland supporting some of the most marginalized individuals couples and families experiencing Homelessness.
Currently Hiring an experienced Support Worker (Night) for Depaul in their Dublin Operation.
Full timePermanent Contract.
Rate of Pay 31731.29 per annum

This position provides an excellent opportunity to support our service teams across Dublin. Depaul is a values-driven organisation delivering a range of services throughout the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. Reporting directly to the Local Management Team the role involves responding promptly to service user needs and security alerts ensuring their safety welfare and well-being throughout the night. Key Responsibilities

  • Build positive working relationships with all service users gaining their trust and managing challenging situations with sensitivity and respect.

  • Work with residents and the ancillary team to maintain a high standard of tidiness cleanliness and hygiene throughout the house including communal areas and bathrooms. Encourage service users to take responsibility for their personal spaces and provide support with cleaning and laundry tasks when needed.

  • Oversee night-time security ensuring regular monitoring of the building and surrounding areas.

  • Provide reception cover as required.

  • Supervise service users particularly those with higher support needs and offer assistance when necessary.

  • Support service users alongside nursing and staff teams in managing their prescriptions taking medication correctly and following agreed alcohol-intake plans. Record and report any instances of non-compliance.

  • Encourage and assist service users in developing daily living skills to promote independence.

  • Notify management of any crises or behaviour concerns and contact the on-call manager during out-of-hours situations when appropriate.

  • Assist residents with personal finances including handling service charges personal monies and related tasks.

  • Complete project administration duties such as petty cash management maintaining statistics processing invoices updating records managing service user files and completing OTIS IR and AR documentation.

  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety standards in line with Depauls policies and the projects Safety Statement.

  • Carry out assigned responsibilities to maintain the overall safety and security of the service including proper use of security systems.

  • Work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team to support residents needs.

  • Attend team meetings and staff development days.

  • Participate in regular supervision sessions and annual appraisals and identify ongoing training and development needs.

  • Adhere to all Depaul policies and procedures particularly those relating to Health and Safety the Code of Practice and Confidentiality.

  • Support the implementation of Depauls Equal Opportunities Policy in all aspects of service delivery.

  • Carry out additional duties as required demonstrating flexibility in supporting other staff roles when needed.



Requirements

  • Minimum of one years paid experience supporting service users with enduring mental health conditions learning disabilities or offending histories ideally within a residential setting.

  • Relevant experience in similar high-risk environmentssuch as domestic violence serviceswill also be considered.

  • Training in Mental Health is advantageous but not essential.

  • Demonstrates a good standard of education.

  • Strong understanding of long-term mental health issues and their impact on individuals.

  • Awareness of harm-reduction approaches and low-threshold support models.

  • Knowledge of risk-management principles.

  • Ability to remain calm during crises and use initiative to appropriately manage incidents.

  • Effective team player with strong communication and collaboration skills.

  • Understanding of Health and Safety requirements within residential services particularly those supporting people experiencing homelessness.

  • Familiarity with and commitment to Depauls vision mission and values.

    • Annual Leave

      • Up to 3 years service: 25 days per year

      • 35 years service: 27 days per year

      • Over 5 years service: 30 days per year (excluding bank and statutory holidays)

    • Public Holidays

      • 10 public holidays annually with Good Friday as a discretionary day.

      • Shift workers who work on Christmas Day St. Stephens Day or New Years Day receive a day off plus a days pay.

      • Non-shift workers: Paid day off on public holidays.

      • Shift workers: Expected to work public holidays and receive an additional day of annual leave in lieu.

      • Non-rostered employees: May receive one-fifth of their normal weekly pay for the public holiday depending on eligibility.
