Description

The Street Outreach Program works to end youth homelessness through concerted comprehensive outreach to runaway homeless and street youth in York and Cumberland counties ensuring basic needs are met while facilitating access to safe shelter housing and supportive a member of the street outreach team the Street Outreach Specialist coordinates facilitates and conducts outreach and engagement activities in the community and at the Preble Street Teen Center and performs administrative and other duties in support of the Street Outreach program and the agency mission.

Population Served: Youth & young adults under the age of 21 who are currently experiencing homelessness in York and Cumberland Counties Maine.

The schedule for this full-time position is Tuesday-Saturday 9am-5:30pm.

Qualifications

Qualifications include a bachelors degree in social work or related field of study and experience providing direct services to people experiencing homelessness or comparable combination of education and relevant experience.

Additional qualifications include an understanding of and alignment with Preble Streets mission positive regard for individuals accessing services for homelessness and poverty and a commitment to providing low-barrier services; demonstrated skills in outreaching individuals in a variety of environments; strong communication de-escalation and crisis intervention skills; familiarity with community resources; ability to work with and maintain professional boundaries with diverse populations; and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

Eligibility for employment with Teen Services requires that staff be at least 21 years of age; hold certification or become certified in First Aid and CPR (on-site training opportunities offered); provide proof of education (diploma or transcript); and have acceptable background check results including BMV. Teen Services staff must attend recurrent regularly scheduled trainings provided on-site. Reliable transportation is required for this position.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly rate of pay for this full-time (40 hours/week) position is $23.12 per hour.
