Job Summary
Transportation for students within the READS Collaborative Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Program located at 399 Old Colony Road Norton MA includes host building locations at:Norton JCS Elementary School - 315 West Main StreetNorton Henri A. Yelle Elementary School - 64 West Main StreetNorton Middle School - 215 West Main StreetNorton High School - 66 West Main StreetBristol Plymouth Regional High School - 940 County Street TauntonPOSITION/TITLE: 14 Passenger Minibus Driver Responsible for safely and efficiently transporting students in accordance with READS Collaborative policies and procedures and state and federal transportation DUTIES: with Program Director and/or his or her designee to review the transportation schedules and plan the most appropriate documentation of routes and revise routes as minibus and/or van for any mechanical defects before each operation to ensure the safety of both students and driver. Report any concerns to the Program daily vehicle Inspection Form (Pre-trip) and (Post-Trip) and submit it to the Transportation office all laws of the cleanliness of the minibus and van at all students up and drop them off at the identified locations ensuring that students are properly supervised by school students in getting on/off the vehicle if that all students are seated with seatbelts secured before moving the vehicle.10. Enforce rules governing student conduct on the vehicle and report any concerns to the Program Director and/or his or her annual trainings for drivers that will be responsible for driving our 7D wheelchair van. Becoming a certified trainer is preferred. effectively with school staff and READS issued cell phone to communicate with the Administration and abide by READS Employee and participate in in-service training programs and staff development meetings as appropriate (minimum of 8 hours required).Report any concerns of safety or students needs to Program Director and/or his or her designeeDay-to-day operations will consist of driving students to and from 399 Old Colony Road to up to 5 host buildings ranging from PreK to Grade transportation responsibilities will be required to deliver student lunches from the Norton Elementary School to 399 Old Colony Road Norton. Driver will be required to properly utilize a 14 Passenger Minibus as well as a 5 Passenger wheelchair van. Driver will be responsible for ensuring both the minibus and the wheelchair van are properly inspected and registered on an annual basis and as required by the Registry of Motor Vehicles. Driver will be responsible for ensuring both vehicles are properly maintained including regular oil changes etc. HEALTH AND SAFETY: able to physically lift and assist students during any emergency to physically tolerate all road conditions and length of routesETHICAL: high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about professional attitudes and productive relationships with other staff and students and staff with duties as assigned by the Program Director and/or his or her designee.
