Your new role

Southend-on-Sea City Council have an exciting new opportunity for a Community Safety Officer. The Community Safety Unit are led by a Community Safety Manager and comprise of a team of Community Safety Officers who are responsible for tackling crime anti-social behaviour and town centre issues across the City in partnership with police and other agencies.

This role is on offer on a permanent contract working 5 days a week on a shift basis (including weekends and evenings). The Unit will be based at Southend Police Station and other satellite locations but the majority of this role will be actively out in the community.

The team is pivotal to the work of the Southend Community Safety Partnership (CSP) and the Council is seeking individuals who will undertake a range of community safety and enforcement work in respect of crime and disorder anti-social behaviour safety of the City and building community cohesion as part of the overall CSP and Council objectives.

Local media has already highlighted the significance of the investment in the Community Safety Unit and this is a great opportunity to be part of this high-profile team.

What youll need to succeed

In order to be successful in your application you should be able to demonstrate basic knowledge of relevant community safety legislation and relevant enforcement procedures. It is desirable that you have experience in public sector enforcement work (such as a local authority) or equivalent coupled with working within communities and dealing with community crime/ASB issues.

Training will be given dependant on level of knowledge and experience. Also uniform and personal protective equipment will be provided to ensure you can carry out responsibilities required as a Council Designated Officer.
