Your new role

We are looking for a Resettlement project officer to join our resettlement team on a full time and fixed term contract basis (9 months). This role will be hybrid working which is a mixture of working from the civic centre some working from home and currently one session per week seeing service users at a different location. This is an exciting opportunity to provide project support to the Homes for Ukraine Scheme (H4U) the Afghan Resettlement Programme (ARP) UK Resettlement Scheme (UKRS) formerly Vulnerable Persons Resettlement Scheme (VPRS) and any other future resettlement programme that may be agreed upon by Cabinet.

As a Resettlement project officer you will manage an organised caseload of resettling families ensuring that meetings are organised paperwork is completed and data is input in a timely fashion. You will be the first point of contact for queries and manage external queries via a shared inbox. You will coordinate and manage any required safeguarding measures and processes as determined by any government resettlement scheme such as DBS and property checks.

You will be responsible for the maintenance and processes which will ensure project and policy documentation reports and plans are relevant appropriate accurate and complete. You will be assisting on some key council projects and will help with research and document/ presentation preparation for these. You will undertake such other duties as may be reasonably required of you commensurate with your grade at your initial or present place of work or at other locations in Southend. This may include periods of intensive working when preparing for family arrivals and if the resettlement landscape changes.

What youll need to succeed

To be successful in this role it is vital that you can communicate effectively to varied audience in a range of ways. Ability to maintain accurate records data reports appropriately reporting concerns to managers and relevant stakeholders when required is crucial for the role. It is essential that you have good understanding of issues associated with resettlement e.g. housing benefits education. Effective organisational and time management skills are required to meet tight deadlines and manage priorities.

You need to be able to create and sustain effective relationships with partners and the voluntary community to support families and build long term networks for family stability. Proven experience of admin support and of gathering and analysing data is essential as is having very good attention to detail. It is essential that you can prioritise workload depending on urgent issues arising. You must be confident in the use of various ICT applications including MS Word Excel PowerPoint and Outlook.

This role may suit individuals from either social care or community facing backgrounds.
