This leadership position is responsible for overall underwriting distribution production and staff in east coast territory. Key responsibilities include developing and executing tactical initiatives optimizing portfolio performance and refining underwriting practices to drive profitable growth and foster innovation within the Cyber E&O segment.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:

1. Drives implementation of strategic and operational objectives with significant impact on the short-term success of a product line or segment and moderate impact on the long-term success of the company.

2. Develops and maintains underwriting guidelines and best practices in accordance with federal and state regulations to ensure the integrity of the product line or segment.

3. Ensures the achievement of continued profitability growth and/or operational efficiencies for a product line or segment through assessment of risk tolerance market appetite and emerging risk issues.

4. Evaluates underwriting performance based on financial analysis. Includes rate reserve adequacy operational planning and product reviews. Provides results to members of the senior management team and develops plans to resolve issues.

5. Provides overall direction for underwriting authority delegation audit criteria and catastrophe management for a product line or segment.

6. Acts as senior level referral officer for exceptions to strategy guidelines and authority for product line or segment.

7. Collaborates with business partners in Risk Control Actuarial Claim Worldwide Operations and Compliance to address governance and compliance issues related to underwriting practices.

8. Leads directs and has full management accountability for staff in area of responsibility with an emphasis on talent management and succession planning in accordance with strategic direction.

9. Conducts research analysis and development of insurance products. Assimilates trends in the industry determines underwriting best practices and contributes to training/development curricula for a product line or segment.

10 May participate in rating bureau boards to keep abreast of industry rating coverage and benefit issues. Fosters relationships with insurance commissioners and regulators.

May perform additional duties as assigned.

Skills Knowledge & Abilities

1. Mastery of underwriting discipline and knowledge in the insurance field and a broad understanding of the critical issues in other related areas.
2. Advanced communication skills which are critical to building consensus across area of influence (external and/or internal relationships) teams and/or matrix environment.
3. Strong leadership and management skills demonstrating integrity and professionalism.
4. Ability to drive results by identifying and resolving significant problems within scope of responsibility.
5. Senior level knowledge of the insurance industry its products and services.
6. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software.

Education & Experience

1. Bachelors degree with Masters preferred in a related discipline or equivalent.
2. Typically a minimum of 12 years of related work experience with seven years management experience.
3. Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation preferred.
