Blizzard Entertainment is looking for a talented Blizzard-savvy Filipino Language Lead to support localization of Blizzard products and services. This person will be the final decision maker and vision holder of the localized Blizzard experience be responsible for reviewing localized assets and owning the localization quality of English to Filipino translations of Diablo Immortal.
The ideal candidate for this position is a passionate individual with an extensive linguistic background knowledge of the gaming and entertainment industry. Excellent language skills in Filipino and English are required for this position.
NOTE: This candidate would preferably be working in the Blizzard Taiwan office.
Responsibilities
- Provide linguistic guidelines
- Own the language decisions. Set the creative direction and define the terminology of localized products and services
- Provide linguistic feedback and recommendations to vendors and other in-house localization teams to uphold Blizzard quality standards
- Create and curate Blizzard Localization Style Guides for Filipino
- Language quality evaluation
- Evaluate the enUS -> fil-PH translations both in-game and out-of-game to ensure high quality experience for players using localized Blizzard products
- Monitor the bug fixing accuracy & quality by partners
- Formulate and execute quality improvement plans
- Collaborate with Blizzard Localization team and other relevant stakeholders
- Provide linguistic / cultural feedback to Blizzard in-house localization teams and other partners Filipino linguists
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders on initiatives aimed at improving player engagement and driving quality and efficiency
- Other editorial projects that require cross-functional collaboration
Requirements
- A minimum of 3 years of professional localization experience
- Excellent grammar and orthography knowledge in Filipino
- Excellent Filipino and English linguistic and communication skills
- Appreciate the art of good localization
- Being aware of sensitive issues (historical political social) from Philippines and consistently immersed into the latest trends of their language and understand how to transmit the emotional side of good localization
- Demonstrates a basic familiarity with the translation and dubbing industry in region
- Strong knowledge of localization and quality control tools
- Strong motivation high level of commitment with proactive and positive attitude
- Able to work effectively in a multicultural team with minimal supervision
- Ability to multitask and self-manage projects
- Ability to meet tight dynamic deadlines in a professional environment
Pluses
- Passion for video games heroic fantasy sci-fi worlds and pop culture
- Experience in game localization or game quality assurance
- Experience working as a translator in the entertainment industry
- Experience with Blizzard Entertainment games(especially Diablo franchise and Immortal)
- Higher education in a linguistics-related discipline
- Chinese speaking capability
