Job Description

Thalle Construction Co. Inc. is pleased to announce a career opportunity for a Geotechnical Engineer on the Central Everglades Planning Project (CEPP) Everglades Agricultural Area (EAA) A-2 Reservoir in Palm Beach County Florida. This will be a 10-year project and marks the largest contract in the Jacksonville Districts history valued at $2.87 billion. Thalle will oversee the construction of a 17.75-mile embankment dam and associated structures. This project offers potential Project Team members a valuable opportunity to broaden their professional experience and advance their careers throughout its duration. The CEPP plays a vital role in Everglades restoration aiming to enhance ecosystem health improve water storage and increase resilience to climate change.

Job Title: Geotechnical Engineer

Salary: Competitive compensation package.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning and executing geotechnical investigations including field exploration laboratory testing and analysis.
  • Support the preparation of geotechnical engineering reports recommendations and technical documentation.
  • Assist in foundation design and earthwork evaluation for heavy civil and infrastructure projects.
  • Interpret soil and rock data for use in stability analysis and other geotechnical evaluations.
  • Perform site visits and inspections during construction to ensure compliance with geotechnical recommendations.
  • Coordinate with project teams including civil structural and environmental engineers.
  • Utilize geotechnical software and tools for analysis and modeling.
  • Maintain organized records of geotechnical data reports and correspondence.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Lead Geotechnical Engineer.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Geotechnical Engineering required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience or undergraduate with at least 5 years of geotechnical experience.
  • Prior experience in geotechnical field investigations lab testing and construction oversight.
  • Knowledge of subsurface exploration techniques and geotechnical instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with geotechnical analysis software (e.g. gINT PLAXIS SLOPE/W or equivalent).
  • Ability to read and interpret civil plans specifications and construction drawings.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented and able to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Possess or be eligible for EIT or PE license preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA FMLA and other federal state and local standards including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular punctual attendance consistent with the ADA FMLA and other federal state and local standards
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs
  • Must be able to talk listen and speak clearly on telephone
