The Role
Responsible for the overall strategy development and implementation of adaptive tennis play opportunities for individuals with disabilities in the United States
- Lead the Adaptive Tennis strategy which aims to attract engage and retain diverse tennis players and providers at all levels of the sport.
- Plan and execute national programs events and initiatives that broadly reach and impact diverse communities especially those underrepresented individuals with physical cognitive and developmental disabilities.
- Work with internal stakeholders and industry partners to implement strategies to recruit and develop current and future coaches officials tournament directors and other providers from underrepresented backgrounds to build a diverse pipeline of tennis professionals for the future.
- Partner with internal stakeholders and industry partners to support training and education for coaches volunteers community organizations officials and other providers to create a more inclusive and equitable sport.
- Develop and manage a budget for adaptive tennis programs including fundraising and grant writing.
- Provide support and guidance to players and families including assistance with equipment and resources.
- Plan and execute adaptive tennis competitions events and clinics as needed.
- Collaborate with local schools rehabilitation centers and other community organizations to promote adaptive tennis programs.
- Evaluate program effectiveness and make recommendations for improvement.
- Maintain accurate records of program participation progress and outcomes.
- Partner with Adaptive leads in the USTAs 17 Sections to identify opportunities to build relationships with adaptive organizations to promote tennis play.
- Serve as staff liaison for the National Adaptive Committee.
- Support major DEI activations and events including the US Open US Open Series and other tennis-related events.
- Work with Junior and Adult staff on integrating adaptive tennis with USTA play opportunities.
Who You Are
- Bachelors degree in Sports Management Recreation Education or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in adaptive sports programming preferably in tennis.
- Experience managing projects across cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals with disabilities and their families.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with coaches volunteers and community organizations.
- Experience in program development budgeting and grant writing.
- Knowledge of tennis rules regulations and coaching techniques.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
- Ability to lift and move equipment as needed.
- Current certification as a tennis coach or willingness to obtain certification within 6 months of hire.
- This position is designated as hybrid/flex and may allow for both remote and on-site work. Any such position must meet the current USTA hybrid/flex requirements as updated from time to time. Please consult HR for the most current policy.

The expected range for the base salary for this position is $90000 to 105000/yr. This role is bonus eligible. This range does not include any additional pay or benefits for which a person may qualify. The actual base salary offered is determined by several variables including as appropriate the applicants qualifications for the position the years of relevant experience their unique skills and the location from which they will be performing the job.
