Job Summary

We are seeking a casual painter to join our hospital facilities team. The position offers flexibility to work varying shifts including days evenings weekends and/or holidays. This role will be primarily located within our main hospital campus; however the work will span across all of our Twin Cities locations and clinics. This position is not eligible for benefits as it is a casual position.

The Hospital Facility Painter is responsible for performing all aspects of painting finishing and surface preparation to maintain the aesthetic appearance structural integrity and hygienic standards of the hospital environment. This role requires a high level of attention to detail adherence to strict safety and infection control protocols and the ability to work independently or as part of a team in a dynamic healthcare setting. The painter will work on various surfaces including walls ceilings doors frames and other hospital equipment ensuring a clean safe and professional appearance for patients visitors and staff.

Compensation & Benefits

The hourly wage for this opportunity is $28.34/hour to $42.51/hour with a median wage of $35.43/hour. Pay is dependent on several factors including relevant work experience education certification & licensure and internal equity. Hourly pay is just one part of the compensation package for employees. Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Performs routine and preventative maintenance on all existing and new equipment fixtures furniture and finishes.
  • Ensures quality repairs to finishes equipment and furnishings that meet Gillette standards.
  • Covers surfaces with cloth plastic to ensure protection.
  • Remove paint splatters when finished
  • Remove fixtures such as doorknobs pictures lamps and electrical switch covers prior to painting.
  • Calculate the amount of materials needed and estimate cost.
  • Select and buy paint from vendors.
  • Moves and installs equipment and furnishings.
  • Identifies deficiencies with Floor ceilings and wall Finishes through ongoing rounding and ensures all repairs are completed
  • Monitors and maintain adequate supplies and materials in an organized way. Including attic stock of all Flooring wall covering paint Fixtures and Furniture.
  • Works with Environment of Care (EOC) project managers to coordinate assistance on project related tasks.
  • Provides direction and oversight to Gillette contracted resources.
  • Works with Gillette vendors or subcontractors across all Gillette locations Including offsite clinics
  • Coordinates between vendors and contractors to ensure repairs installation and remodels are completed timely and accurately and minimize interruption to patient care.
  • Coordinates with Regions Hospital maintenance staff as needed.
  • Responsible For quality of work and drives continuous improvement of conditions of Facilities.
  • Properly documents all actions taken on each work request including time spent and materials and parts consumed.
  • Assures work requests are addressed promptly and that work is performed quickly and thoroughly.
  • Maintains safe driving practices while using maintenance van including daily inspection of vehicle. Provides routine maintenance as scheduled.
  • Follows quality theme: Do it right the First time.
  • Keeps storage and workspaces clean and organized.

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Vocational training or apprenticeship in painting is preferred.
  • Drivers license with a minimum of 3 years of driving experience
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a painter with at least 1-2 years in a commercial or institutional setting preferably a healthcare environment.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Safety and Infection Control:Demonstrated knowledge and adherence to safety regulations and infection control practices particularly in a healthcare environment (e.g. proper containment negative pressure procedures).
  • Proficient in various painting techniques (brush roller spray gun).
  • Strong knowledge of paint types primers and finishes.
  • Ability to accurately mix and match paint colors.
  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools.
  • Ability to construct install and repair furnishings flooring and fixtures.
  • Skilled in surface preparation including patching sanding caulking wallpaper and Acrovyn.
  • Basic understanding of drywall repair and plastering.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independentlywith minimal supervision and as part of ateam.
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts including evenings weekends and holidays as needed for critical projects or emergency repairs
  • Ability to read blueprints.

Preferred

  • Experience with specialized healthcare coatings (e.g. anti-microbial paints).
  • OSHA 10 or 30 certification.
  • Knowledge of building codes and regulations related to painting in healthcare facilities.
