Position Overview
We are seeking an Advocacy Consultant to join our team in Germany on a 6-month full-time consultancy. This role will focus on our work to pressure the German governments to do all it can to end the horror unfolding before our eyes in Gaza.
The right candidate is excited to spend time at the Bundestag has strong existing networks in German political and civil society spaces and loves building relationships that can unlock change. This is a hands-on role that will bring Avaazs global campaigns closer to German decision-makers and opinion-builders.
This role reports to the Senior Campaign director leading our Gaza initiatives.

Responsibilities
- Build and strengthen relationships with parliamentarians party staffers government officials and opinion leaders in Berlin.
- Support senior campaigners in advocacy meetings including preparing briefing notes talking points and follow-up materials.
- Track German political debates legislation and government positions relevant to Avaazs campaigns.
- Provide rapid political analysis and updates to the Avaaz team to inform campaign strategy.
- Assist in organizing advocacy-focused events roundtables or delegations in Berlin.
- Collaborate with Avaazs Media Digital Content and Campaign teams to ensure advocacy efforts align with public mobilization.
- Maintain and grow contact lists for political policy and civil society stakeholders in Germany.
- Seize timely opportunities to connect Avaazs campaigns with the political agenda in Germany.
Skills & Qualities
- Strong networks and relationships in German political policy and/or civil society spaces.
- Keen understanding of Bundestag dynamics German party politics and policymaking processes.
- Excellent communication skills in German and English with the ability to brief persuade and represent effectively.
- Track record in advocacy political advising or campaign lobbying.
- Comfort with fast-paced politically sensitive environments.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in managing contacts meetings and follow-ups.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to spot openings and opportunities for influence.
- Focused and impact-oriented mindset able to effectively work in a fast-paced high-impact campaigning environment managing shifting priorities and urgent deadlines.
- High professionalism and delivery orientation with proven ability to deliver high-quality work at speed balancing accuracy clarity and impact under intense pressure or periods.
- Sustaining performance through effective stress and workload management to maintain high performance and personal wellbeing.
- Strong collaboration skills across teams to deliver rapid impactful campaigns while upholding Avaazs values and mission.
- Passion for global justice experience engaging responsibly with emotionally challenging global justice issues and imagery demonstrating compassion and professionalism.
- Proficiency in digital collaboration tools (Google Workspace Slack Zoom media databases).
Location
Avaaz is a virtual organization and most of our work is done online. Our staff are based in cities all over the world. For this role we are seeking candidates who reside in Germany preferably Berlin but other cities and countries in the EMEA time zone will be considered if the candidate is the best fit.
Avaaz will support you to set up a home or co-working environment that leads to excellence in delivery and long-term sustainability.
Compensation and Benefits
The full-package salary for this position in Germany ranges from 57.000 - 65.000 EUR based on experience and location.
For successful candidates based outside of Germany the final pay will be adjusted based on location and relevant experience. An accurate range in local currency will be provided to candidates during the screening process.
