Job Summary
The Department of Genetics and Genomic Sciences Division of Medical Genetics and Genomics (DMGG) at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is seeking a full-time geneticist with expertise in the evaluation diagnosis and treatment of pediatric and adult patients with metabolic and genetic disorders.
The successful candidate will join a distinguished faculty with established expertise in clinical and biochemical genetics and will have the opportunity to collaborate across multiple practice areas within medical genetics.
Candidates with a special interest in metabolic diseases will work as part of an innovative multidisciplinary teamincluding physicians nurse practitioners nutritionists genetic counselors social workers and a patient coordinatorwithin our Program for Inherited Metabolic Diseases. Responsibilities will include initiating and managing treatment for patients identified through the newborn screening program providing inpatient consultations for the metabolic service and delivering both inpatient and outpatient clinical genetics care.
Responsibilities
Additional responsibilities include supervising medical genetics trainees and genetic counselors during their clinical rotations and serving as faculty in the graduate-level medical genetics course.
There are ample opportunities for clinical research clinical trials and collaboration with basic science investigators supported by strong institutional genomics initiatives. Specific job responsibilities can be tailored to the candidates clinical interests and experience.
The DMGG is home to multiple accredited training programs including an ABMGG-accredited Medical Genetics fellowship combined Internal MedicineGenetics and PediatricsGenetics residencies a Masters Program in Genetic Counseling and a Medical Biochemical Genetics fellowship.
Qualifications
- ABMGG Board Certification/Eligibility in Clinical Genetics
- Board Certification/Eligibility for Pediatrics or Internal Medicine
- Eligibility for a New York State medical license
- Additional Board certification in Biochemical Genetics is preferred
Compensation range from235K to 255K(not including bonuses / incentive compensation or benefits)
