DescriptionThe Research Program Director is responsible for administrative operational and financial oversight of research projects within the Tisch Cancer Institutes Immunotherapy program. Reviews preparation of grants negotiations of clinical trial agreements; integrates laboratory and clinical aspects of projects; creates and implements budgets; drafts agreements with external institutions; oversees staffing and related human resources activity.
Responsibilities- Works with the Immunotherapy team and their collaborators in program development and project management
- Promotes collaborative research through the coordination of information materials and meetings
- Manages the progress of research initiatives/projects ensuring that regulatory and financial review processes are proceeding as efficiently as possible
- Serves as liaison to Grants and Contracts Sponsored Grant Finance and other collaborating departments
- Assists with project proposals related to special and unique research projects
- Oversees the preparation of grants and contract submissions
- Works with PIs to develop budget for individual projects including subcontracts and no cost extensions
- Collaborates and communicates with external agencies sponsors and institutions
- Provides assistance and guidance in the preparation of regulatory materials to IRB/IACUC
- Responsible for financial management of awarded grants and contracts as well as other related funds
- Oversees the collection of monies related to invoiceable services including those rendered by the Vaccine and Cellular Therapy Lab
- Ensure awarded monies are being used appropriately and in keeping within budgeted amounts
- With department finance team oversees spending of seed funds gift accounts and/or any other funds within the immunotherapy program portfolio
- Work closely with Mount Sinai contracting departments (MSIP and FACTS) to ensure that subcontracts and other agreement with external sponsors and collaborators are handled appropriately and effectively. May arrange for the availability of human and material resources to facilitate positive outcomes for ongoing research projects.
- Participates in the development and implementation of ongoing quality improvement activities as per policies and protocols. May participate in the identification and response to potential and actual risk management issues.
- Working with department HR Director responsible for research staff in terms of assisting with recruitment hiring evaluating retention discipline and termination.
- Helps create and implement strategies to find reward and retain highly skilled research personnel
- Ensures Immunotherapy staff evaluations are conducted annually by appropriate supervisors
- Fosters teamwork among all immunotherapy staff
- Performs other related duties.
- Manages other related special projects as required
Qualifications- Bachelors degree Masters strongly preferred in sciences or related degree
- 7 years experience in a hospital/medical environment
- 5 years experience in research environment strongly preferred
- 3 years supervisory
