As an integral member of the Cancer Rehab and Survivorship Program (CRS) and a Regulated Health Professional the Registered Kinesiologist will be responsible for the delivery of clinical programming and education related to physical activity exercise and healthy lifestyle behaviours to cancer survivors. Primary involvement will be with Cancer Rehab and Exercise Program and the principal responsibilities of the Registered Kinesiologist will include: conducting aerobic fitness musculoskeletal fitness functional capacity and body composition assessments; interpreting health assessment results; developing reviewing and modifying exercise prescriptions according to patient outcomes disease and/or treatment related considerations; providing health and wellness education in a group and individualized setting; conducting group and individualized exercise education sessions; conducting or supervising group and individual exercise classes/sessions; monitoring vital signs and responses to exercise (blood pressure heart rate oxygen saturation rate of perceived exertion signs and symptoms of over-exertion); supervising/mentoring trainees and students; virtual coaching for patients participating in a home-based exercise program; using health coaching skills to improve adherence to exercise program; discharge planning for patients upon program completion; triaging referrals; completing documentation in a timely manner; quality assurance administrative and program related marketing activities; liaising with members of the interdisciplinary team; and other duties as assigned.
