Were seeking a skilled and motivated Junior Sous Chef Pastry to join our culinary team at Novotel Sunshine Coast Resort and Convention this hands-on leadership role youll oversee pastry production across both our resort dining outlets including SOLA Bar & Restaurant and our large-scale convention centre. Youll play a key role in day-to-day operations while contributing creatively to menus and leading a high-performing team across two diverse kitchens.
What youll do:
- Oversee the preparation and presentation of a wide range of pastries desserts and baked goods across multiple service areas
- Collaborate on the development of seasonal menus and event-specific offerings bringing creativity and consistency to every dish
- Train mentor and supervise junior pastry staff supporting skill development and high performance
- Monitor stock levels coordinate ordering and ensure seamless kitchen workflow and prep schedules
- Maintain strict food safety hygiene and allergen management protocols in line with industry standards
- Assist with food cost control portioning and waste reduction to support overall profitability
- Promote a positive collaborative and high-energy kitchen environment

Qualifications :
What we are looking for:
- A pastry chef with proven experience in a similar environment preferably within the hotel industry
- Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent trade qualifications
- Strong understanding of food safety requirements including HACCP and workplace health and safety (WH&S)
- Proven ability to manage staffing needs plan and delegate tasks and motivate the team to meet daily objectives
- Service-oriented with a keen eye for detail and excellent time management skills
- Ability to multitask effectively and communicate well with team members at all levels
- Flexibility to work a rotating roster including evenings weekends and public holidays
