The appointed attorney will provide legal support for Visas operations in the Southern Cone with primary responsibilities in Argentina and/or Paraguay Uruguay and Bolivia. The position seeks a commercially-minded legal professional with demonstrated expertise in financial regulatory issues contract negotiation and civil commercial and consumer law. The ideal candidate will serve as a strategic partner to the business particularly within the digital payments sector and related technology products and services.
This position will work on a wide range of legal matters while collaborating closely with business and other key stakeholders at a local regional and global scale. This position requires agility ownership and a strategic mindset to support the companys operations in a highly regulated dynamic and innovative environment.
Key Responsibilities
Advise on financial regulatory frameworks applicable in the five jurisdictions monitor regulatory developments support regulatory implementation strategies interact with regulators in collaboration with compliance.
Draft review and negotiate commercial agreements (services partnerships vendor contracts technology and SaaS agreements etc.) provide pragmatic risk-based legal advice. Review marketing initiatives to support local teams in designing legally compliant initiatives.
Provide integrated legal support across Argentina Uruguay Paraguay and Bolivia align legal advice with regional and global teams.
Act as a trusted advisor to business product and other stakeholders provide training and guidance on legal and regulatory matters.
Contribute to process improvement knowledge management and legal operations efficiency leverage technology -including AI- and best practices to deliver high-quality legal services.
Work with other members of the legal team and outside counsel to manage local claims and litigation matters with strategic risk mitigating mindset.
This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.
Qualifications :
Law degree with strong academic credentials.
Masters degree or specialization in corporate banking business law fintech or law and economics.
8-9 years legal experience in payments fintech financial institutions or relevant top tier/specialized boutique law firm practice.
Fluent in Spanish and English.
Strong commercial contracts financial regulation civil and commercial law and consumer law knowledge.
Excellent legal analytical skills with ability to untangle and analyze complex legal issues and integrate legal advice and business knowledge while providing balanced strategic advice assessing legal risks.
Strong interpersonal influencing and trust-building skills across cultures.
Proactive agile independent and results-oriented.
Strategic detail-focused and skilled at navigating complex regulations.
Experience with AI in legal matters and operations.
Ability to manage multiple priorities multiple stakeholders and meet tight deadlines.
