Job Description

The school is recruiting a Design Technology Teacher (ECT) for a permanent full-time role at an Outstanding academy in Harrow starting in January 2026. This position is designed to embed an enthusiastic new teacher into a well-resourced department.

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute engaging hands-on lessons in Design Technology across Key Stages 3 and 4 (expertise in Graphics Product Design or Textiles is welcome).
  • Fully commit to the schools ECT Induction Programme maximizing the use of protected planning time and specialised training.
  • Develop students creative design processes technical analyse and manufacturing proficiency.
  • Manage workshop resources efficiently strictly upholding high standards of safety and organisation.
  • Contribute actively to extracurricular clubs such as model-making or robotics groups.
  • Uphold the schools commitment to high teaching standards and practical excellence.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent and eligibility to complete the ECF.
  • A relevant degree specialism in Design Technology Engineering or a related practical field.
  • Technical proficiency in relevant workshop machinery CAD/CAM software and safety protocols.
  • Excellent organisational skills and clear practical communication.
  • The ability to inspire and motivate students across all abilities to achieve outstanding practical outcomes.
  • A commitment to collaborative working within a practical dedicated faculty.
