This Position reports to:
Global Supply Quality ManagerThe Supplier Quality Engineer will provide leadership to ensure best-in class quality of product and services to ABBs Electrification Installation Products (ELIP) division and its customers. They will be responsible for developing and execute strategies in collaboration with plants and sourcing teams to establish a robust supplier quality system as well as drive sustainable improvements in the quality of products and services within the ELIP supply base. This is hands-on role serving on the front lines of protecting our customers and supply chain processes.
The ideal work locations for this role are Byhalia MS or Jonesboro AR (#LI-Hybrid). In this role our successful candidate should plan to travel up to 50% (visiting suppliers trainings manufacturing facilities).
You will be mainly accountable for:
- Driving approval process for supplier parts materials and project subcontractor services as applicable involving collaboration with other functions/experts encompassing activities like Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and product surveillance at supplier manufacturing sites.
- Leading in promptly addressing supply issues related to quality deliveries non-compliant products or project services.
- Working together with buyers to engage suppliers and prepare claims cases when necessary.
- Ensuring required supplier development processes are thoroughly executed to drive continuous improvement of the supplier base.
Qualifications for the role:
Bachelors degree in engineering highly preferred (or significant relevant experience in lieu of degree)
Minimum 5 years in Supplier Quality or Manufacturing Quality with a significant portion of experience spent in dealing with supplier quality issues
Preferred experience with categories such as raw materials (steel copper aluminum) plastic resins injection molded parts sheet metal and stampings fasteners and castings as well as knowledge of quality standards such as IATF 16949
Strong oral and written communication in English with problem solving and change management of facilitation skills.
Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
