JOB DETAILS

JOB BAND: D
CONTRACT TYPE: 6-month Fixed-term Contract Full-time / 6-month Attachment Full-time.
DEPARTMENT: The Travel Show.
LOCATION: London -New Broadcasting House - Hybrid minimum of two days office working Monday and Wednesday. Must be available to work in office/edit suite NBH a minimum of 4/5 days a week during edit weeks.
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: 40200 to 43260 (plus London weighting depending on relevant skills knowledge and experience.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The Travel Show has an exciting opportunity for a talented Producer to join its award-winning team for 6 months.

Reporting to the Executive Producer and Series Producer you will have extensive experience of developing producing and filming engaging stories that resonate with a diverse global audience.

You will need to be a confident self-starter and decision maker full of ideas energy and resilience plus have a developed understanding of how travel often intersects with current big global topics

Our producers find and develop stories that work within our editorial remit and turn them into compelling television. Skilled at developing treatments that work for our global audience they manage often complex logistics during set-up and filming and shape the eventual programme during the edit. We are looking for an experienced candidate who has a genuine passion for both TV and travel documentaries.

Would you like to be part of the award-winning team that produces The Travel Show using your experience and creativity to deliver engaging content from a variety of destinations across the world We have an exciting opportunity for a proven TV professional with a background in character-led storytelling and extensive overseas location experience to join our team for six months. You will need to bring strong ideas sharp editorial insight and a high degree of resilience. You will also have the practical skills required to make long-form TV including knowledge of camera equipment and editing software.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:

  • Using a wide range of sources and contacts to generate new and topical ideas and treatments for The Travel Show
  • Developing producing and directing long form content and delivering consistently to deadlines
  • Accurate and engaging scripting for broadcast
  • Managing and motivating team on location
  • Monitoring and controlling budget on location
    Rough cutting first draft of programme using FCP X
  • Edit producing long form content

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Experience of developing producing long form TV content and directing talent and contributors on location in the UK and internationally.
    Track record of finding engaging stories/characters and the ability to shape creative treatments
  • Strong decision-making skills and the ability to work under pressure whilst leading teams. Highly developed planning and organisational skills with ability to prioritise deliver to deadlines and manage sometimes changing or conflicting demands
  • A clear understanding of near-news content and the Travel Show remit
  • Resilience and ability to travel internationally sometimes at short notice
  • Excellent geographical and an understanding of global current affairs
  • Practical experience of filmmaking including the ability to self-shoot to a high standard.

DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:

  • Experience with Final Cut Pro desirable.
