Job Summary

JOB DESCRIPTION
The Oncology Translational Research (OTR) group is seeking a highly motivated bioinformatician with strong analytical skills and solid background in cancer biology to join a translational oncology project focused on uncovering mechanisms of drug resistance in ovarian cancer using advanced omics and spatial transcriptomics data. The position is based at the Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP) within a multidisciplinary team working with 3D models (organoids) and patient-derived samples.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Analyze spatial transcriptomics and multi-omics datasets from cancer-patient samples.
  • Develop and optimize bioinformatics pipelines.
  • Integrate and interpret data to identify molecular mechanisms of drug resistance.
  • Collaborate in manuscript preparation and presentation of results.
  • Participate in project meetings and contribute to strategic planning.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCIE
Education:
  • PhD in Bioinformatics (or currently in the final year of PhD) a MSc in Genetics Bioinformatics or related fields and an Undergraduate degree in Biology or similar with a strong academic record.
Languages:
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken).
Specific knowledge:
  • Experience analyzing multi-omics data (RNA-seq ATAC-seq proteomics).
  • Familiarity with spatial transcriptomics platforms (e.g. Visium Xenium).
  • Skilled in R and Python programming.
  • Proficient in Linux environments and HPC/cloud computing.
  • Knowledge of cancer genomics and proteogenomics.
Personal skills:
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
Experience:
  • Demonstrated experience in cancer-related bioinformatics research.
  • Prior involvement in international collaborations and multidisciplinary projects.
Specific conditions of the call:
  • The position is funded through a competitive grant; candidates with fellowships or experience in funded projects will be positively evaluated.
Additional valued knowledge:
  • Experience with explainable AI approaches in omics data analysis.
  • Familiarity with driver mutation analysis and post-translational modification studies.
  • Publication record in high-impact journals.
  • Working knowledge of Spanish and/or Catalan is a plus.

  • Gross annual remuneration inherent to the square objected to this call will be fixed based on the experience provided and the skills of the candidate distributed in 12 payments.
