Job Description

Assistant to Work with Student and their Service Dog As a designated Assistant for one of our students you will have the opportunity to facilitate the successful integration of their daily school work and community experiences alongside their service dog. We are seeking an individual who is enthusiastic about supporting the success of our students use of their service dog in all aspects of their experience at school and the Position: The Assistant will work across a variety of settings including classrooms vocational settings therapy areas and the larger community with the student and their service dog. The care you provide enables the student to access their education work experiences and community inclusion trips through promoting the safety and management of our students service dog. Experience working with students with special needs is a plus!Duties and Responsibilities: Assisting our student with working on her goals around managing/ handling her service dog this would include: ensure control of the students service dog including holding the leash at all times transitioning throughout the daily schedule ensuring all necessary supplies and support for the dog are available and ready communication with the family around needed supplies for the dog accompanying the student and dog into the community during community trips and vocational activities communication with the family school and district regarding any changes in the schedule (holidays professional development days snow days etc.)There is a 40 hour training period that will need to be completed prior to starting with the student and dog.
