Job Description

Position Summary:

Franklin University a private independent accredited not-for-profit University located in Columbus Ohio invites applicants for its Adjunct Faculty-Doctoral Statistics position. The Adjunct Faculty role includes primary responsibility for providing quality instruction and maintaining a positive learning environment with an emphasis placed on teaching supporting and evaluating students. Assigned courses will be taught online.

Statistical Reasoning and Interpretation introduces students to the concepts underlying basic data collection analysis and interpretation. Core topics include descriptive statistics selection and operationalization of variables scales of measurement data types sampling techniques and means of collecting data. Using a current statistical analysis program students will learn to describe data sets using measures of dispersion and relative position to compute probability of occurrence of events to compute measures of relationship and to convey and interpret results of various analyses in written form.

Statistical Techniques for Research Inquiry emphasizes the alignment of statistical procedures with research methods including selection and application of appropriate statistical analyses given a data set and a problem statement including comparison tests tests of prediction/relationships and tests of predicting group membership. Moreover students will develop skills of data set manipulation including cleaning and screening data and assessing conditions in order to choose between parametric and non-parametric tests. Additional emphasis will be placed upon conveying and interpreting results of analyses in written form.

This role will work a remote schedule.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teaches courses in discipline including holding regular virtual class meetings scheduled at a time thats convenient for adult students
  • Creates a welcoming inclusive and productive learning environment
  • Provides constructive feedback to students on course assignments
  • Maintains attendance records determines and submits grades within timeframes established by the University
  • Supports the resolution of student issues related to course instruction
  • Provides feedback on what is working and what is not with the course
  • Participates in all department meetings and required training
  • Participates in personal professional development
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Lead Faculty

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • A doctorate in Statistics or closely related field from a regionally accredited college or university with a minimum of 9 credit hours in doctoral level Statistics/Quantitative Methods courses
  • Commitment to collaborative & collegiate relationships
  • Commitment to actively supporting student learning
  • Maintain confidential and sensitive information
  • Knowledge of higher education regulations compliance and accrediting agencies
  • Computer proficiency including proficiency with SPSS
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate in a professional manner and work effectively with faculty staff students and members of the professional community
  • Excellent multi-tasking skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Skills and Characteristics:

  • Previous experience teaching applied statistics
