Position Summary
Charlottesville City Schools is seeking caring dependable and flexible Substitute Instructional Assistants (IAs) to support students and classrooms when regular staff are absent. Substitute IAs work under the direction of teachers and school staff to assist with instruction supervision and daily routines ensuring that students continue to learn and thrive in a safe and positive environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assist teachers in providing instructional support to students in both whole-group and small-group settings.
Support students individual learning behavior and social-emotional needs.
Supervise students in classrooms hallways lunchrooms playgrounds and other school settings to maintain safety and order.
Provide additional support for students with disabilities as directed by special education staff.
Help implement classroom routines and reinforce expectations for behavior and engagement.
Collaborate and communicate effectively with teachers administrators and other staff.
Perform other duties as assigned to ensure smooth school operations.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associates degree or higher preferred.
Experience working with children in an educational childcare or youth program setting is preferred.
Ability to follow teacher and staff directions and adapt to changing needs.
Strong communication patience and interpersonal skills.
