Job Description
- Prepare accurate cost estimates for mechanical systems including HVAC plumbing and fire protection
- Review blueprints technical specifications and scopes of work to determine requirements
- Conduct material takeoffs and ensure precise quantities are included in project bids
- Source and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotes to build competitive proposals
- Provide value engineering recommendations to balance cost quality and project goals
- Maintain knowledge of current labor rates material costs and market conditions
- Collaborate closely with project managers engineers and architects to refine project details
- Submit comprehensive bid packages and assist with post-bid activities such as cost tracking and change orders
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering Construction Management or related field; equivalent experience considered
- 3 years of HVAC/mechanical estimating experience in the construction industry
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and installation processes
- Proficiency with estimating software (FAS EST Bluebeam or similar) and Microsoft Excel
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Strong communication organizational and problem-solving skills
