Job Description

POSITION: Wireless Systems Engineer

EMPLOYER: E.F. Johnson Company

JOBSITE: 1440 Corporate Drive Irving TX 75038

HOURS: Full-time 40 hours per week

JOB DUTIES:

Design develop and engineer wireless network solutions for Land Mobile Radio (LMR) systems used by public safety organizations and accommodate bid requirements utilizing a combination of company and vendor manufactured equipment. Direct and coordinate implementation of the system design through system acceptance to ensure compliance with specifications FCC codes and regulations and customer requirements particularly regarding Radio Frequency (RF) issues. Confer with and integrate input from Project Management Sales Bids and Proposals Applications and Engineering teams to ensure a structured development process from concept to production operations. Determine any modifications/equipment needed that support the bids and proposals effort. During the initiation project phase travel to customer sites to conduct Site Surveys to determine the location of equipment materials needed to satisfy customers needs as well as any potential issues that could surface. Review and optimize system network topology utilizing EDX Signal Pro to simulate RF coverage signal strength and reliability across various frequencies and create comprehensive maps of RF coverage predictions using ArcGIS. Provide technical content for Critical Design Reviews. Meet with related engineering departments to ensure proper modifications are met within specified project schedule. Create high-level system diagrams and rack profile drawings in Microsoft Visio to showcase the equipment needed for the proposed RF design. Develop Bill of Materials (BOM) based upon proposed system design and requirements. Confer with customer/vendor/subcontractor and assist in negotiation process of system sales as required. Conduct vendor product analysis. Develop test plans for CFAT Site Acceptance and System Acceptance. During the implementation project phase travels to customer sites to observe operations and ensure system conforms to design and equipment specifications make modifications to the design documentation and assist in system acceptance.

*Requires up to 25% US travel to customer sites for Site Surveys and troubleshooting.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

1. Masters or equivalent degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering plus 2 years of experienceas a Wireless Systems Engineer Radio Frequency (RF) Engineer or Electronics/Electrical Engineer in RF and/or LMR industry.

have 2 years of experience with the following:

  • Design and testing of RF and/or LMR systems.
  • RF and/or LMR coverage design propagation tools including EDX Signal Pro ArcGIS.
  • Microsoft Visio.
  • RF and/or LMR system design per customer specifications and troubleshooting technical and interface issues.
  • FCC Regulations for Radio Frequencies.
  • Interfacing with vendors/customers/subcontractors and negotiating of systems sales.
  • Conducting vendor analysis.

*Requires up to 25% US travel to customer sites for Site Surveys and troubleshooting.
