Job Summary

STV has an immediate need in either our Franklin or Chattanooga TN offices for a Roadway Design Engineer in our Transportation division. The successful candidate will:

  • Provide professional design services for transportation improvement projects

  • Support interdisciplinary projects document preparation and production assisting sub-consultants monitoring budgets schedules and quality

  • Design roadway alignments and details grading drainage traffic and other highway infrastructure and site work

  • Develop design plans including storm drains culverts storm water management and erosion and sediment control.

  • Interacting with client management teams engineers in other technical disciplines and marketing teams

  • Design using Open Roads Designer

  • Coordinate design development and assisting with technical direction to other design staff

  • Coordinate with the design team to achieve quality deliverables within the established schedule and budget

  • Assist with the development of specifications cost estimates and technical reports

  • Establish working relationships and interface with client technical staff and project managers

  • Mentor supporting design staff

The ideal candidate is an individual who is a self-starter an excellent communicator and possesses a vast understanding of transportation/roadway principles.

The candidate will be designing independently working with junior staff members for successful project production and execution. This is an excellent role for a creative self-motivated and detail-oriented professional that enjoys being a part of a team environment to join our growing team!

Responsibilities include:

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in all technical aspects of Roadway Design and environmental permitting along with cost estimating.

  • Experience in using CADD and mapping software including MicroStation Open Roads Designer and ESRI ArcGIS.

  • Strong inter-personal skills for client and other engineering discipline interaction

  • Experience in the TN transportation field is desirable

Required Skills:

  • The ideal candidate will have a bachelors degree in civil engineering and/or a Masters Degree in Civil Engineering

  • TN PE license is required or ability to obtain within 6 months

Compensation Range:

$96217.42 - $128289.89
