Materials Engineer

Location: Onsite - Santa Clarita CA
Start Date: ASAP
Hourly Rate:$25 - $45/hour DOE
Overview: A premier motorsports organization is seeking a Materials Engineer to join their team in Santa Clarita CA. This hands-on role involves laboratory analysis metallurgical testing and failure investigation of engine components. Ideal for candidates with a background in materials science and a passion for precision engineering.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct laboratory analysis on engine components using specialized equipment
- Prepare metallurgical samples for failure analysis (cutting mounting grinding polishing etching)
- Document findings and assist in recommending corrective actions
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory and analytical equipment
- Perform microscopic and macroscopic examinations on metallic and non-metallic samples
- Support additional lab duties as assigned
Details:
Qualifications:
- Associate or Bachelors degree in Science or Engineering (Materials Science preferred)
- Ability to read and follow technical instructions procedures and documentation
- Willingness to learn safe handling of lab equipment and chemicals
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word Outlook Excel PowerPoint)
- Strong awareness of occupational hazards and safety protocols
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Team-oriented mindset with problem-solving initiative
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs and operate lab equipment with precision
- Visual acuity for microscope-based analysis
