The Police Department is comprised of dedicated professionals including the Chief of Police 2 Captains 3 Lieutenants 1 Support Services Manager 10 Sergeants 9 Corporals 39 Police Officers 9 full-time Dispatchers and 3 part-time Dispatcher Crime Analyst CSI Record Clerks Community Services Officers Cadets Police Services Officers and administrative staff.


ABOUT THE ROLE


Are you ready to make a meaningful impact on public safety in a vibrant California community We are seeking three (3)motivated dedicated and community-focused individuals to join our Police Department as a Police Services Officer (PSO). This is an outstanding opportunity to serve protect and grow professionally while contributing to the safety and well-being of our residents. Our Police Services Officers are part-time non-sworn personnel who perform critical responsibilities supporting the law enforcement mission. PSOs engage with the community address public safety concerns assist sworn officers in investigations and ensure compliance with local and state regulations. This role is ideal for individuals committed to community-oriented policing and who want to develop a rewarding career in public service.

Job Overview


Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide effective customer service both on the phone and in person; answer emergency and non-emergency phone calls.
  • Operate distinctively marked police vehicles on all roads highways and freeways throughout the City.
  • Prepare police reports on minor incidents accidents lost and found property and basic crimes after obtaining information from victims and witnesses.
  • Perform parking enforcement work patrolling designated areas enforcing parking regulations and issuing citations for violations.
  • Assist in parking control during special events or on City streets during peak traffic conditions; post temporary signs and barricades; provide traffic control at the scene of accidents and other non-hazardous incidents; and provide assistance at crime scenes.
  • Assist in the collection preservation transportation booking and release of property and evidence.
  • Assist in photographing latent fingerprint and DNA collection and documenting evidence at crime scenes.
Other Job Related Duties:
  • Appear in court providing testimony when summoned to do so.
  • Prepare and maintain a variety of records reports and other documentation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualification Guidelines

EDUCATION:
High school graduation or equivalent certification is required. College-level coursework in Criminal Justice or a related field is highly desirable.

EXPERIENCE:
Prior extensive public contact and customer service experience requiring tact and discretion in dealing with others is required.

REQUIRED LICENSE:
A valid California Class C Drivers License is required.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include overtime emergency call back shift work nights holiday and weekends as needed.
