The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is Canadas largest mental health and addiction teaching hospital as well as one of the worlds leading research centres in the area of addiction and mental health. CAMH combines clinical care research education policy development and health promotion to transform the lives of people affected by mental illness and addictions. CAMHs Campbell Family Mental Health Research Institute (CFMHRI) is home to scientists staff and research trainees conducting research to improve the understanding of the brain and the causes and biomarkers of mental illness as well as making advances in prevention and treatment for mental illness and addictions across the lifespan.
The Tanenbaum Centre for Pharmacogenetics at CAMH is seeking an outstanding full-time permanent Senior Scientist with internationally recognized expertise in psychiatric and statistical genomics. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record in the development and application of computational statistical and machine learning approaches to large-scale genetic and multi-omic datasets and in translating genomic discoveries into biological and clinical insights. Candidates with established expertise in genetic architecture of psychiatric disorders (e.g. eating disorders PTSD) transcriptomic imputation and functional genomics are particularly encouraged to apply.
The successful applicant will hold a secondary appointment with the Krembil Centre for Neuroinformatics and will work in a collaborative interdisciplinary environment spanning fundamental and clinical research. They will contribute to institutional strengths in computational psychiatry precision medicine and translational genomics and play a leadership role in advancing evidence-based practices that improve mental health outcomes.
Accountabilities:
The successful applicant is required to have a Ph.D. in Statistical Genetics Bioinformatics Computational Biology or a related health science discipline with postdoctoral training in psychiatric or statistical genomics. Minimum of 6 years (7-10 years preferred) of independent research experience leading advanced research in psychiatric genetics and multi-omic data integration. The successful candidate will have proven expertise in computational model development transcriptomic imputation eQTL analysis and in the integration of genomic epigenomic and microbiome data. They will demonstrate leadership within large-scale research consortia and multi-centre collaborations and bring a strong track record of securing peer-reviewed funding as a Principal Investigator alongside progressive scientific achievement evidenced by high-impact publications. The candidate will also show a clear commitment to mentorship teaching and advancing equity in science with demonstrated success in supervising research trainees at multiple levels. Strong organizational communication and collaboration skills are required with the ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary and diverse teams. The successful candidate will also be eligible for an academic appointment at the University of Toronto at the rank of Associate or Full Professor commensurate with experience and qualifications.
The successful candidate will also possess sound judgment excellent organizational communication (verbal/written) and strong analytical skills. The demonstrated ability to cultivate internal and external relationships and collaborate effectively with colleagues decision makers and the scientific community is required as is the ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team made up of individuals of diverse ethno-racial and cultural backgrounds. Bilingualism (English/French) and/or proficiency in a second language is considered an successful candidate will support and contribute to a healthy workplace that embraces diversity encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements. This position is located at 250 College Street Toronto Ontario.
