The Associate Director Global Sourcing will develop strong partnerships with functional leaders in the management of external spending supporting Medical Affairs and Marketing.
What you will do
Identify develop and manage strategic business relationships with key Marketing and Medical Affairs stakeholders.
Proactively develop partnerships with key partner functions including Legal Finance and IT ensuring open communication ideas and information are shared and communications foster respect and true collaboration
Collaborating with functional leadership develop and implement global sourcing category strategies and value generation plans. Owns sourcing strategy for Global Supplier Category base.
Manages the strategic sourcing process from supplier/product evaluation through negotiating contracts compliance considerations and ongoing performance management.
Takes a comprehensive view of spend and identifies category-level demand management leverage and LCC opportunities
Enables high-performing engagement models with business units and regions
Partners closely with business area owners to drive value for Alexion and provides leadership and direction for cross-functional teams
Develops and implements the framework for Post Contract Management and Supplier Relationship Management ensuring each supplier relationship is established with a bias for continuous improvement
Uses outstanding project program and change management skills to manage and drive internal and external change
Demonstrates a deep understanding of the marketplace competitors and business requirements. Anticipates key changes and drivers in those categories and formulates mid-range and long-range plans
Actively supports diversity to expand relationships and spend with Diverse Suppliers
Builds and drives a Total Cost of Ownership culture across Alexion. Implements Supplier Performance Management with key suppliers to foster innovation manage supplier performance and ensures continuous improvement.
Supports compliance with key controls processes and procedures as applicable.
Provides support and input to finance policies procedures and SOPs to formalize areas of compliance within the financial framework to support future scalability
Bring potential internal control and compliance-related matters that may cause risk to the attention of regional and/or corporate leaders as deemed appropriate. Ensure compliance related to FCPA and local laws/regulations grants and spend transparency requirements across the organization.
Maintains an up-to-date understanding of enterprise needs relevant industries and best practices for strategic sourcing.
Essential for the role
Bachelors degree
7 years of progressive global procurement experience managing a range of marketing medical affairs or R&D categories
Procurement experience in the pharmaceutical industry including medical affairs marketing patient services meetings & events market access operations R&D or equivalent roles
Proven ability to work effectively with Clinical Research Organizations/External Providers and to interact widely and effectively within the company across regions functions and cultures.
Experience working on R&D Clinical Trials or Medical Evidence studies or working with Secondary Data sources and real-world healthcare data and understanding of outcomes research /payer access issues
Experience in the delivery of Real-World Evidence generation studies and understanding of epidemiological study designs
Team oriented with a customer service and value-added approach to work across boundaries and borders and influence and lead procurement functional specialists
Strong relationship builder with a proven track record of establishing and maintaining effective internal and external client relationships
Must possess the highest professional and personal standards unquestioned integrity and business ethics. Must be prepared to define their position on significant issues and lead change when necessary.

Desirable for the role
Degree in Operations Finance Business Life Sciences or comparable field
MBA
Professional certification i.e. CPSM etc.
Previous experience working at a biopharma or a CRO or hands-on experience managing research projects conducted by CROs

The annual base pay (or hourly rate of compensation) for this position ranges from $108169.60 - 162254.40 USD as an annual base salary. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors including market location job-related knowledge skills and addition our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles)to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles) and commission payment eligibility (sales roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program 401(k) plan; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and health benefits including medical prescription drug dental and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
