Qualifications:
Texas Operators License
Possess knowledge and ability to perform in a variety of trades
3 Years Experience
Physically able to lift 50 pounds
Ability to follow instructions (written and oral)
Ability to interpret plans; show drawings and specifications
Ability to comprehend English (written and oral)
Primary Purpose:
Help maintain the physical school plant in a condition of operating excellence so that full educational use of it may be made at all times.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Full-time evening shift hours Monday through Friday.
- Assume responsibility to make minor repairs of any nature in the facilities owned and operated by the district including electrical plumbing painting fire alarms and/or general maintenance trades.
- Perform inspections repairs or new work in addition to routine skilled maintenance duties within electrical plumbing painting locksmith fire systems and/or general maintenance trades.
- Plan out work daily and perform work independently as needed with minimal supervision.
- Assist in emergency calls in regard to water leaks power outages door security and fire alarm troubles throughout the work shift.
- Recognize when a specialized trade is needed to solve problems.
- Examine district-owned facilities on a regular basis.
- Operate a variety of maintenance related equipment including power and hand tools and maintenance vehicles and/or lifts.
- Take all safety precautions related to all trades and reports to Maintenance Supervisor any hazardous situations.
- Efficiently use district work order program daily.
- Communicate effectively with campus staff administration and other departments daily.
Equipment Used:
Power tools (drill saw etc.) hand tools electrical tools diagnostic tools equipment ladder lift etc.
Working Conditions:
Continual walking and standing; frequent heavy lifting and carrying; climbing stooping bending kneeling and reaching. Work outside and inside. Exposure to extreme temperatures dust fumes and odors. Exposure to mechanical electrical and chemical hazards. Work around moving objects or vehicles.
