Job Description

The purpose of the Student Relations Director is to develop and assess effective strategies to improve the experiences and successes of students within the college and school. The position is a resource to both students and faculty in the areas of recruitment and retention; general advising; student complaints; student conduct; and academic petitions. The position is designed to provide recommendations and innovative solutions to solve complex student issues.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate general academic advising activities to foster student success

  • Manage student conduct student complaints student petitions and student appeals to advance the student experience

  • Develop support and assess initiatives designed to increase recruitment and retention for the College and its programs to support program and College growth/sustainability

  • Serve as a liaison/resource to the College and the University to ensure consistent and appropriate implementation of relevant policies procedures and practices

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Masters degree in College Counseling Higher Education Administration or related field

  • One year professional experience in advising student affairs and/or recruitment and retention academic affairs or related experience

  • Demonstrated ability to engage in the best practices and procedures of student advising/counseling and higher education administration

  • Demonstrated skills in collaborating with multiple functional areas to advance student success

  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal written and oral communication skills

  • Demonstrated skill in writing concise accurate and professional reports

  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills including data interpretation

  • Demonstrated skills in working with diverse student and employee populations

Preferred Qualification

  • Knowledge of the theoretical principles of advising/counseling and higher education

  • Three years professional work experience at a state college or university in College Counseling Higher Education Administration or related field

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively create and deliver professional presentations for large and diverse groups

  • Demonstrated ability to work professionally with varied external organizations/entities

Work Shift (Hours / Days of work)

Typically 8:00am-4:30pm M-F along with some weekend and evening hours
