Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Te Herenga Waka Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Kaiwhakahaere - Manager Careers and Employment on a permanent full-time basis.

The Kaiwhakahaere - Manager Careers and Employment willlead our team to deliver high-quality future-focused career development and employment services that support students career readiness and success.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the strategic direction and operational delivery of career development and employment services across the University.
  • Manage a team of career development and employment professionals to deliver inclusive student-centred services.
  • Build and maintain relationships with employers industry and community organisations to enhance student employability and graduate outcomes.
  • Use data and insights to evaluate impact inform continuous improvement and align services with institutional priorities.

This role sits within Te Pūrengi - Student Experience and Wellbeing alongside student services teams dedicated to student success.

Ō pūmanawa - About you

You are a strategic and inclusive leader with a passion for student success.

Key requirements:

  • Proven experience in leading career development employment or student services in a tertiary or related setting.
  • Strong people leadership skills with a track record of building high-performing collaborative teams.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations and embedding Te Tiriti o Waitangi equity and inclusion into service design and delivery.
  • Excellent relationship management skills with the ability to engage employers industry and internal partners.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills with the ability to use data to inform decision-making and demonstrate impact.
