Position Summary
The HR Generalist plays a vital role in advancing GenPrides mission by ensuring a supportive equitable and affirming workplace for staff. This role encompasses a full range of HR functions with a strong emphasis on cultivating cultural humility inclusivity and belongingvalues that reflect and affirm the diverse experiences of our team and the LGBTQIA2S elders we serve.

Now celebrating ten years of advocating for the well-being of LGBTQIA2S elders GenPride champions the unique needs of LGBTQIA2S older adults across Seattle and King County. We provide innovative programs responsive support services and meaningful opportunities that promote wellness prevent isolation and cultivate belonging.
GenPride also partners with LGBTQIA2S and senior-serving organizations through trainings that strengthen equity respect and inclusion across King County.
Located in Seattles Capitol Hill neighborhood the GenPride Center is part of Pride Placethe regions first affordable affirming housing and community center for LGBTQIA2S older adults. The GenPride Center at Pride Place is a vibrant hub where we bring our mission to life: building a future where LGBTQIA2S elders are widely seen supported and celebrated.
Schedule: Anticipated 820 hours monthly. Hybrid work from home and at the GenPride Center where frequent and regular interruptions are common. Occasional morning and evening hours are required.
Primary Responsibilities
Employee Relations & Culture
- Promote and sustain a workplace rooted in cultural humility inclusion and respect free from discrimination and bias.
- Support managers and employees with guidance on performance management conflict resolution and career development.
- Develop and implement initiatives that strengthen engagement morale and a sense of community.
- Actively work to prevent and address microaggressions and other forms of bias.
- Encourage open communication and dialogue around equity belonging and respect for individual differences.
Policies Compliance & Administration
- Track and document compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training continuing education and required assessments (e.g. safety anti-harassment licensure).
- Lead recruitment interviewing and hiring processes in collaboration with hiring managers.
- Conduct background checks and employment eligibility verification.
- Implement new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
- Administer payroll and maintain the HRIS system.
- Support the full scope of HR programs including compensation benefits leave performance management disciplinary matters and staff development.
- Participate in employee improvement meetings investigations and terminations.
- Ensure compliance with federal state and local employment laws and regulations updating policies as needed.
- Stay current on HR best practices legal requirements and new technologies in talent management.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Human Resources Business Administration or related field.
- Minimum 2 years of HR generalist experience (nonprofit experience preferred).
- Knowledge of HR best practices employment law and compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
- Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to act with integrity professionalism and confidentiality.
- HR certification (SHRM-CP or PHR) preferred.
