Job Summary

SALARY: up to $20.33 per hour

HOURS: Wednesday - Sunday 2pm - 10:30pm

POSITION SUMMARY:

Performs a variety of skilled and unskilled tasks in the custodial care and maintenance of the facility. Employee expected to report to and travel between facilities as schedule dictates.

May October:

  • Complete daily detail cleaning of restrooms at community park locations.
  • List of locations subject to change but can include: Boehm Boland Byers Softball Complex Gov. Joe Kernan Keller Kennedy Phil St. Clair Potawatomi Pulaski Veterans Memorial Voorde
  • Weekly cleaning of office spaces at Morris Performing Arts Center
  • Daily cleaning of restrooms at Morris Performing Arts Center Palais Royale and Raclin Murphy Encore Center

November April:

  • Complete daily detail cleaning of Morris Performing Arts Center spaces (offices restrooms and primary guest gathering spaces excluding the inside of the theater)
  • Complete daily detail cleaning of Palais Royale spaces
  • Complete daily detail cleaning of the Raclin Murphy Encore Center

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

None

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Positive interactions with guests and other employees.

Sweeps vacuums mops dusts strips waxes polishes and buffs floors. Cleans carpets furniture etc.

Washes windows walls metal and woodwork.

Cleans and sanitizes restrooms and replenishes supplies; cleans spills cleans drinking fountains mirrors tables fixtures blinds light fixtures etc.

Picks up litter from grounds and around the building

Dumps garbage relines garbage cans with liners.

Inspects and maintains assigned custodial equipment and tools for proper operating condition.

Assists Superintendent III in the monthly inspection of the facility and follows through with requests for repairs as needed.

Opens and closes locks and unlocks facility as needed.

Keeps records of completed daily work.

NON-ESSENTIAL/MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:

Other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS:

Any combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge and experience to perform the duties of the position.

High school diploma or equivalent education.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

Working knowledge of equipment materials and supplies used in custodial services. Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely.

Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities according to work schedule.

Ability to communicate orally and in writing.

Ability to understand follow and transmit written and oral instructions.

Ability to establish effective working relationships with employees supervisors and the public.

CERTIFICATES LICENSE REGISTRATION:

Valid Drivers License required.

EQUIPMENT:

Floor buffers vacuum cleaners broom mop dusting equipment cell phone mobile tablet blowers etc.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds; specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and occasionally in outside-weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet except when operating power equipment.
