The Boeing CompanyBoeing Defense Space and Security (BDS) is seeking a motivated and dedicated System Safety Engineer to join the Systems Safety Team within Enterprise Safety and Mission Assurance in Tukwila WA. Our team is currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Mid-Level and Senior System Safety Engineers.
At Boeing Safety is at the core of everything we do. As a System Safety Engineer you will play a key role throughout the entire life cycle of the U.S. Air Forces (USAF) VC-25B aircraft program. Youll gain a comprehensive view of the defense industry and hands-on experience with the aircraft exploring its intricate complexities.
The Systems Safety team is responsible for overseeing the safety efforts for VC-25B. This includes performing safety analyses for basic aircraft functions and managing the design safety activities for the aircrafts mission systems. The team also provides guidance and integration with Mission Assurance and other related functions including Environment Safety and Occupational Health teams covering areas such as airworthiness design for Environment Health and Safety and the Hazardous Materials Management.
Position Responsibilities:
Utilize an interdisciplinary and collaborative approach to plan design develop and validate balanced system of systems and system solutions throughout their lifecycle
Assess customer and operational needs to establish system performance requirements integrate technical parameters and ensure compatibility of all physical functional and program interfaces
Conduct analyses to optimize system architecture ensuring an effective system of systems approach
Perform evaluations for key factors including affordability safety reliability maintainability testability human systems integration survivability vulnerability susceptibility system security regulatory compliance certification product assurance and other quality aspects to achieve a preferred configuration and ensure mission success
Support the planning and organization of requirements management processes including tools risk issues opportunity management as well as technology readiness assessment processes
This position is expected to be 100% selected candidate will be required to work onsite in Tukwila WA.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science from an accredited course of study in engineering engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology) computer science data science mathematics physics chemistry
5 years of experience in an engineering field
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Lead: 10 years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
5 years of experience in systems safety engineering
Experience implementing Department of Defense system safety standards MIL STD 882E
Experience implementing FAA Safety Processes
Experience in traditional engineering analytical methods and Aerospace/Industry Standards (SAE ARP 4754A SAE ARP 4761 RTCA DO-160 RTCA DO-178 RTCA DO-331)

Summary Pay Range (Mid-Level Level 3): $104550 - $141450
Summary Pay Range (Senior Level 4): $128350 - $173650
Summary Pay Range (Senior Level 5): $ 157250 - $212750
