Are you an ambitious teacher of Design & Technology ready to step into a leadership role A prestigious independent school in Reading is seeking an exceptional Head of Design & Technology to lead its thriving department from January 2026. This is a full-time permanent position offering the chance to shape the future of DT within a school known for academic excellence innovation and outstanding facilities.
The Role
Full-time Head of DT starting January 2026
Lead and develop the Design & Technology department across KS3KS5
Teach DT specialisms (Product Design Resistant Materials or Engineering Design) to GCSE and A-Level
Drive curriculum innovation and departmental strategy to inspire creativity and achievement
Line-manage and support colleagues fostering high standards of teaching and learning
Oversee enrichment activities including design competitions STEM clubs and links with industry

What Were Looking For
QTS/PGCE (or equivalent) with strong subject knowledge in Design & Technology
A proven track record of excellent classroom teaching at KS4/KS5
Experience in curriculum leadership or a clear readiness to step into a Head of Department role
Strong organisational interpersonal and communication skills
Commitment to inspiring students and fostering a culture of creativity and excellence
