Job Description

Are you a newly qualified teacher of Design & Technology ready to begin your career in a supportive and successful school A forward-thinking secondary school in Christchurch is seeking a DT ECT to join its team from January 2026. This is a full-time permanent position offering excellent support and training as you take your first steps in teaching.

The Role

  • Full-time Design & Technology Teacher (ECT) role starting January 2026

  • Teach DT across KS3 and KS4 with the opportunity to develop into KS5 teaching as experience grows

  • Specialisms in Product Design Resistant Materials or Graphics welcomed

  • Benefit from a structured ECT induction programme including mentoring and regular CPD sessions

  • Contribute to the departments extra-curricular provision such as design clubs competitions and practical workshops

This successful Christchurch secondary school educates around 1100 students and is known for its inclusive ethos strong leadership and supportive staff culture. The DT department is popular with students and benefits from excellent facilities including modern workshops CAD/CAM technology and digital design resources. What Were Looking For

  • A DT ECT with QTS/PGCE or pending qualification (specialism in Product Design Resistant Materials or related field)

  • Passion for inspiring creativity and problem-solving in students

  • Strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for hands-on practical learning

  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills

  • Commitment to professional development and contributing to the wider life of the school
